Its July - so blather already |

Man June was forever I swear. The school closed for the summer, the summe programs kicked off, the guy I worked with retired, we got a new assist supervisor
(replaceing the other person who moved up to full supervisor) the parks are emptying as fast as the can, the building are filling up even faster, and I
haven't sat down for 10 minutes at work since last friday. The heat is on.

So now it is July, the dead of Summer, and we are finally having the Spring weather we never got in Spring.
It's pretty nice! |

Works for me missy. I was wondering about those "hot summer nights' we were having in spring.
Three days off, again. This is going to be a good year. I have had two three day weekends so far. Otherwise the summer programs are on track and running at full throttle. |

Well it was quiet, the staff was zoned out, the other staff was zoned out, the other staff was working, but somewhere across campus another staff was zoned
out.

Well I don't about the rest of you, but yesterday and today has been a figurative Hell - with all the fires going (and don't get me started about the
religious idiots), the sky is smoky, the heat is over the 100 mark (yesterday was 111, today is only 108) and it was running at top speed with a 20 minute
lunch break for the last 2 days getting ready for 500 conventioneers.
Ok, just got through with Verizon, forgot how expensive it is starting with a new phone company. |

I'm sorry about all the fires. I can relate. At least there haven't been that many homes lost. Here, the fires went through congested
neighborhoods...in my sister's community, there were over 300 homes lost.
Speaking of fire....the DoLots have switched to propane for our barbeques...we just assembled the beast tonight. We'll try cooking on Friday. One of the deciding factors in making the switch was the reality that starting a fire, even in a grill, is potentially a really dangerous, life threatening thing to do now... |

Yes, and not only that, you can control the flames of the Propane. I love Barbecueing over the propane grill. In fact I am going to do "roasted corn in
the husk". I buy the untrimmed corn with husk still on for cheaper than the husked corn.
Then I Soak the corn, husk and all in water for an hour or so; trim both ends leaving the good thick husk. Wrap partial in tin foil, pour one table spoon of lemon, lime or orange juice down the top, seal up and let set for about another hour, then barbecue in the wrapper for about 15 to 20 minute per side. (One 1/2 turn only). Then you just leave until your ready to eat. Peel of the tin foil and husk, give one good wipe to remove the silk and your in business. |

Looks like the summer doldrums have hit; most all the boards are quiet. Though I wonder if there is boards for 'TM'ers'(Text Messagers). In some
ways it is the 'new bboard', the young folks use it constantly, and it has its uses.
Still it is the middle of the summer, and there should be lots of folks going on Vacation, despite the direct hit to the pocket book, from the economy. Summer is in the hayday, and we have finally got some relief here from the fires. It was to the point that many plants couldn't take it and were dying out. The trees were starting to turn yellow despite flooding them with water. The strike is on, though there is some contention on both sides about whether it is legal or not. The UC says no, but the Union says Yes. Interestingly some news reports mention that many of the 'patients and former patients' of the health care facility (which is where the real ruckus lies) are joining the picket lines (per the spouses info on the net). Otherwise another day for me, some watching the 5th season of charmed. |

Yes, 'tis true....the office is on "short hours"...I mean, really short. We're only working 4 days a week and usually no more than 6 hours on
the days we do go in. That's had a double effect. I'm not there to post endlessly like I usually can and when I am at work my time is
more full of stuff one should, in fact, be doing while getting paid (like, this morning I had to set aside composing a post to type up a 6 page
document...normally a job like that would have a turnaround time of "sometime tomorrow" instead of "now").

|||

A lot of places on the campus are doing that; they asked for people who would like to work only a couple of days a week, but still get benefits, just not the
pay.

August is typically a slow time in the Venture Capital world and since we're in "wind down" mode anyway, it's almost always slow....plus with
the Fair and now the Races across the street, traffic is a disaster so I tossed the idea out there that if we didn't work Fridays that would be one less
day of fighting the traffic and it stuck. It's an added plus for me because it costs me about $8 a day to get too and from work. The rest of them live
close to the office so it's not such an issue for them.

Not to mention the time it takes for the commute, which also adds to your stress levels. I can relate. Rarely did I ever have to drive more then 30 miles,
though to S.F. I drove, and then rode the Bart. It was $10 a day just for the Bart and Bridge, not counting the gas. And of course it was in the "high
volume" side of the Commute also.
Now it is still 30 miles, but everyone is going the other way, both times, Morning and night. The only sticky point is Sundays when all the stupids from the Tahoe Tripping come back. People up here have no freaking clue how to drive. Getting towards the end of the money, and the month. |

My guys are all pretty good and no, they don't rely on any analysts.
Tonight we went to the zoo....and man, my back is trashed! But it was fun. There was this guy who painted with his hands and brushes to music...he had a black canvas, neon paints and we got to try to guess what the animal was as he went along....pretty cool. |

My 16 year old son is scheduled for another 3 round fight in the ring Tuesday, 7-29-08 against a taller, older, longer arm reach black dude who trained at the
boxing gym a few months longer than Ryan. My son has 2 fights, 2 wins, 1 by knockout, the other by TKO. I taught him a few new moves from my
'bag-o-tricks' , which is;
let your longer arm reach opponent throw and punch and punch and punch.....while just staying out of reach. Move, and move and move, just sending a stiff jab to the face when you have an opening to 'sting him' .... ...Now! towards the end of the 1st round he is winded and thinks he has you when you back up, then 'turn' into the middle of the ring....You let him back you towards the ropes ....suckering him in! ...Leap back, plant one foot behind then LUNGE forward with an irresistably powerful front jab, catching him by surprise, stunning him, then get inside and absolutely fucking unload with front jabs from both sides, an uppercut, a power lefthook, right hook, right hook,left hook, then when he bounces off the ropes, a power left uppercut under the chin so he lays down obediently. My many years of martial art experience is finally paying off. My boy is the payee! |

well hells bells, the month is pretty much over and dead. What like two days left?
Summer is supposed to be here, but it seems like a warm spring instead. Oh well, tonight I get to collapse and get some sleep. |

Second to the last day of the month and counting. July is always the longest month, once August hits the summer tends to run out like water out of a cracked
pot.
Anyway, time to relax for me today. I have been running all this week, rarely sitting for more than 20 mintues at lunch and the rest of the time just running. |

August is TOMORROW! WTF????
How did this happen? |
|||
Padre Mellyrn |
|||

I think Murphy was in charge for the whole month. If you couldn't fuck it up, that was because someone beat you to it, and took your turn. For which you
would be grateful.
